Greg Weddle named Regional Director of FLRA Chicago Regional Office

 

Today, the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) has announced the appointment of Greg Weddle as the Regional Director of the FLRA’s Chicago Regional Office. In this position, Mr. Weddle will be responsible for the investigation and resolution of representation and unfair-labor-practice cases filed under the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute (the Statute) in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Mr. Weddle began his career with the FLRA in the Chicago Regional Office in 1996. He has
served as a Senior Attorney, as Chicago Regional Attorney beginning in August 2014, and as
Acting Regional Director beginning in May 2021. Before joining the FLRA, Mr. Weddle worked
for the Social Security Administration in Michigan from 1986 to 1993. Mr. Weddle received a
Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Public Service from Northern Illinois
University and a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He is
admitted to the Illinois Bar.

The FLRA Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is the independent investigative and
prosecutorial component of the FLRA. Through its five regional offices, the OGC investigates,
settles, and prosecutes unfair labor practice charges, resolves representation disputes, including
the conduct of secret ballot elections, and provides training to union and management
representatives.

The FLRA administers the labor-management relations program for 2.1 million non-Postal federal
employees worldwide, approximately 1.2 million of whom are represented in 2,200 bargaining
units. It is charged with providing leadership in establishing policies and guidance related to
federal sector labor-management relations and with resolving disputes under, and ensuring
compliance with, the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute.
