SFLERP Executive Director to Retire in September

After more than a quarter century as Executive Director of the Society, Paco Martínez-Alvarez announced to the Board of Directors his plan to retire at the end of September 2021.  Paco came to SFLERP in October 1995 after having served as Acting Executive Director of SPIDR, the Society of Professionals in Dispute Resolution now the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR). Prior to that, he was Director of Legislative and Public Affairs at the FLRA from 1990 to 1994 under Chairman Jean McKee.  He had been Deputy Director of the Columbus Quincentenary Commission from 1985 to 1990.  He is a graduate of Amherst College and holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Paco took over the management of SFLERP at a time when the Society was $11,000 in debt.  Today, the Society’s assets reached $100,000 earlier this year.  He developed a high standard of quality service to Society  members and proudly carried the SFLERP banner in coordinating twenty-five annual symposia.  In 2010 the Board of Directors presented him with the Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding contributions to the Federal labor-management relations program and dedicated service to SFLERP.

The SFLERP Board established a Search Committee to begin the process of finding a new Executive Director.  Congrats and thanks to Paco for his years of service!!
