Sharon Papp & Sue Whitney: Recipients of Lifetime Achievement Award

Even though the annual symposium had to be cancelled the SFLERP Board of Directors wanted to recognize the work of two extraordinary women by bestowing upon them the Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award.  The award will be presented in person at the Society’s next annual symposium.

Sharon Papp, General Counsel of the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA), has dedicated her career to federal sector labor/employment law and spent almost 30 years assisting Foreign Service Officers, Specialists, and their families. She has been a longtime member of SFLERP and has participated in several symposia. AFSA is the sole union representative for one worldwide bargaining unit that represents all the foreign affairs agencies (State, USAID, FAS, FCS, USAGM and APHIS).

Sue Whitney retired after more than thirty years in the Federal government where she served twice as LER Director at GSA and the LR Officer for the National Science Foundation, among other agencies.  She was elected to several terms on the SFLERP Board of Directors and served as National President between 2009 and 2011.  She was recently reelected to continue serving on the Board for a two-year term.

SFLERP congratulates both Sharon and Sue for their many years of service and for their many contributions to SFLERP and the profession!
